Young Nature Bloggers Competition

We're calling on all young people who love nature and the outdoors to take part in a summer writing challenge. Participants are asked to write up to 500 words about the Dublin Bay Biosphere, or your experience of visiting our biosphere, what the biosphere means to you or the wildlife that can be found locally.

Deadline extended until 17th September 2021. Entries will be judged by a panel of Biosphere Committee Members and winners will receive a Dublin Bay Biosphere goodie bag and their blogs will feature on the Dublin Bay Biosphere website our social media pages and in this e-zine!


This competition is also being organised in four other Irish and UK biosphere’s with the overall winner from each biosphere set to be judged by an international panel of experts to find a UK and Ireland champion who will have their article shared with an international audience.

Please send entries along with accompanying photos and/or drawings to please include entrant’s name, age, email address and phone number. Photos should be at least 1MB and no bigger than 5MB and should be sent separate to, and not embedded in, documents.


There are 3 prizes on offer with the winners receiving a goodie bag for each of their classmates and a visit (in person or via zoom) from an environmental educator who will help you become the first children in Ireland to earn the Biosphere Award (see link below).
